CEDARWOOD (ATLAS) (Cedrus Atlantica)
Cedarwood Atlas essential oil is extracted from the wood the coniferous tree. Originally from Lebanon, it is now grown commercially in Morocco.
The oil from Cedarwood was used in ancient Egypt for embalming. In the Far East it is used as incense. It has a long history as a cure for baldness and in the treatment of skin complaints.
Cedarwood essential oil has a stimulating and refreshing woody smell.
In aromatherapy, it is good for dry skin, rashes, eczema, thinning hair and dandruff. It is also used to help with stress related problems.
USES Massage and baths. Diluted with massage oil or adding a few drops to a moisturising cream, it can be rubbed into dry skin. It is excellent for scalp massage.
CAUTION Dilute Cedarwood essential oil to 5% or less with carrier oil. It is best avoided during pregnancy.
