Eucalyptus Essential Oil is extracted from the twigs and leaves of the Blue Gum tree. A native of Australia, it is now grown in California, Spain and Portugal.
Eucalyptus leaves were crushed and used by the Aborigines to heal wounds, fight infection and to relieve muscular pain. The wood was used on cooking fires to flavour food.
The essential oil has a distinctive,
stimulating smell that clears the head and has been used in cough and cold remedies
for decades.
It is a powerful antiseptic that
kills airborne germs and has a cooling effect on skin.
In aromatherapy, Eucalyptus Essential Oil is an excellent decongestant for fever, flu, coughs, colds or sinus. It soothes muscular aches, sprains and pains and helps heal abrasions.
USES:
Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice.
A few drops in a dish of hot
water on a radiator will disinfect a room and make breathing easier at night,
or use it for a chest massage in a steam bath, or on a hot chest poultice.
Diluted, Eucalyptus Essential Oil may be massaged
into aching muscles for quick relief.
CAUTIONS:
Eucalyptus Essential Oil is Perfectly safe for home use as long as it is diluted before application.
